Cut the 20g Red Fog Lamp Relay #1 ground/trigger wire at the back of the driver's side headlight plug (there's 2 red wires, the fog light one is usually the smaller one, confirm with test light). Extend this wire so that it is long enough to reach your new aftermarket harness high beam port. Splice it into the new harness Blue wire for high beams.

In the spirit of the DIY types ( and since an off the shelf harness wont work ) i figured id post up a DIY harness. the main reason off the shelf harnesses wont work is the samurai uses a constant hot, and switched grounds for headlights. this is the oposite of how its normaly done. here is the headlight diagram taken from the 88 service man.

My final decision was a headlight with high and low beam, tail/brake light, horn, and keyed ignition with a handlebar mounted kill switch. From there I started to mentally lay out the harness that I would be making. It is so tempting to buy a spool of wire, mount everything to the bike, and start connecting things—but don’t do that.
